Abstract

Objective: To investigate the entrepreneurial skills of comedians from the local creative industry, with prominence and national representation.

Method: A qualitative research was conducted with semi-structured interviews with 12 comedians from Ceará. For the data treatment, the content analysis method was used, with the help of the software ATLAS.ti 7 for the codification of the data obtained in the interviews with comedians.

Originality / Relevance: This research sought to fill a gap in the empirical and conceptual literature about the entrepreneurship activity of comedians, mainly in the face of the development of the creative industry related to the humor of Ceará.

Results: The results indicated that: (i) comedians developed entrepreneurial skills throughout their careers, acquiring a set of knowledge, skills and attitudes directed to entrepreneurship, with financial return and success in their professional activities; and (ii) entrepreneurial skills can boost the development of the creative industry, by creating business to generate employment and income for society.

Theoretical / methodological contributions: A model adapted for the analysis of entrepreneurship skills of comedians was adopted, based on the theoretical-methodological framework of authors such as McClelland (1987), Man and Lau (2000) and Ahmad, Ramayah, Wilson and Kummerow (2010). In addition, an additional effort was made to align these models of entrepreneurial skills with comedians from Ceará, a public not much investigated in the field of studies related to the creative industry.
